High Oleic Canola Oil - In our tests and research, we've found High Oleic Canola oil to be better than standard Canola because it doesn't result in DOS (dreaded orange spots) as often as other liquid oils. This new canola oil has 70% minimum oleic acid content and 3% maximum linoleic acid content. The increase in oleic acid and decrese in linoleic acid, means the oil is much more stable and less likely to react with oxygen and go rancid, which results in fewer instances of DOS (dread orange spots).
High oleic canola oil also increases the time it takes to reach trace, making it great for use in swirling techniques or other complicated techniques where you need a longer working time. This oil is also non-GMO and expeller pressed, meaning no chemicals are used in the extraction process for the oil.
Use in your cold process recipes up to 40%. Canola is an inexpensive, neutral oil that works nicely in combination with other oils like Coconut and Palm to make a balanced bar of soap. Canola oil is high in Oleic Fatty Acids much like Olive Oil.
