Description

Chai Tea: As a drink, Chai Tea is a wonderfully warm and comforting drink as a fun alternative to coffee (it still has a good wallop of caffeine in it as well)! As a fragrance oil, it has a traditional Earl Grey Tea scent with delicious citrus notes of Bergamot and Sicily Lemon along with a base and heart notes of Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Tahitian Vanilla and a little bit of Allspice. This is a sweet, buttery fragrance oil with a touch of spice that will discolor your soaps a delightful rich brown color.

So Lovely!
I personally didn't think I was going to like this one because I'm generally not a sweets person. And OOTB I was just eh for me. However, I made three batches of chai tea bars for fall and once they were cut, oh my do they smell amazing! The scent is strong, warm and spicy. The sweet scent fell away and it's just a lovely black tea and cinnamon scent, which I really like. This one did accelerate just a tad for me, but I do put shea butter in my recipe. I was still able to get some fabulous layers with it and a top swirl. Awesome fall scent! I'm sure my customers will love it.

Soothing scent
This is a very soothing tea scent, like a cup of very lightly spiced chai with milk. Chai tea itself comes in many blends, some of which are very heavy on the peppery pungent spices, but this FO is not pungent and peppery at all. It's smooth. I didn't find it to be like Earl Grey tea, meaning I don't smell heavy bergamot notes--those citrus notes blend in perfectly to make this FO what it is. I made CP soap with just this FO and ground black tea for exfoliation--it discolored a beautiful light brown with the black tea speckled throughout with a light milky chai scent. I sold every bar. It's one of my favorite FOs and very unique, and I agree, it would be a great blender with other FOs as well.

light and sweet
I had a sample of this and decided to try it in my latest CP soap. Since there wasn't enough of it to scent the whole batch, I used it roughly 40:60 with peppermint, which may sound bizarre to more experienced soap makers, but I dearly love peppermint and mostly wanted that scent. It is now curing, and I love to just inhale near it! The chai scent is quite light and just seems to warm up and sweeten the peppermint in a lovely way. I want to try this one again, combined with other of my favorite oils. Orange? Lavender? Lemongrass?

Warm and Comforting
I was wary of ordering the full size, so I asked for a sample. I'm so glad I did! Some chai tea scents are way too heavy on the spices with no trace of tea, or too heavy on the tea with no trace of chai's characteristic spiciness. As any blend too heavy in tea or spice notes gives me a headache, you can understand my wariness to order! However, I will definitely order a bigger bottle. This was a very well blended scent, with no one note more overpowering than the next. Very mellow and comforting. I definitely get notes of milk, spice, tea, and buttery vanilla. I can't wait for fall to use this in everything!

Chai?
I decided to give this scent a try in my M&P because my tea soaps are my signature scents but unfortunately it's going to take a lot of work to make this something I feel like I can sell. My testers all agree that it mostly just smells like milk, which is a bit redundant with a much nicer milk and honey FO available, and I'd be better off finding a good spice fragrance and mixing my own for the chai. I'm so rarely disappointed with anything from BB that I'm really only reviewing because I've seen a lot of CP talk but no M&P and I felt it best to note that both processes have a similar complaint regarding the scent.

Hi Otto! I'm sorry this fragrance wasn't your favorite. While it does have a sweet buttery smell, we've found that it also has some nice spice notes. I'll be emailing you personally to make sure you got the right fragrance!
