Soap Crayons

Make Your Own Soap Crayons

After an active summer day playing outside, it's bath time. With Camp Bramble Berry Soap Crayons bath time is no longer boring. Your child will leap into the bath knowing that they can draw all over the tub. These soap crayons turn bath time into an artistic adventure, and when finished just rinse the tub out with water for an easy clean up. Unleash your child's inner Picasso this summer!

How to set-up the pouring tray
Instructions:
ONE: Measure out and cut up 13.5 oz of White Melt & Pour Base in a heat safe container. Melt the soap on short, 30 second bursts and stir between each burst.

TWO:
Divide the soap into five containers, with 3 oz of soap in four containers and 1.5 oz of soap in the fifth container.

THREE:
Next, add 1 mL of fragrance oil per cup.
Be sure to keep track of which fragrance oil goes in which cup to keep your colors matched (see above).
April Showers
FOUR: Now add in your colorants. LabColors can be difficult to mix in evenly when undiluted. We recommend heating the colors (particularly the blues and greens) in the microwave on one or two 5 second bursts. After heating, make sure the cap is on tight and shake vigorously. Then, add one colorant per cup. We used 3 ml of the Peach and Green Apple and 2 ml of the Purple, Teal and Periwinkle to achieve colors that appeared nicely when drawn with.
Adding the pigment
FIVE: Pour your soap into the mold. Each cavity will hold 1.5 oz of soap, so you'll get two soap crayons per color. One of your cups should only contain 1.5 oz of soap, so that will fill the remaining cavity.

SIX
: Immediately spray the backs with rubbing alcohol to get rid of any air bubbles.

SEVEN:
Allow the soaps to sit for a few hours before unmolding.

EIGHT: Test the soap crayons in a discrete area in your tub before unleashing your child's creativity. Rinse away with a washcloth and warm water.
Play Tic Tac Toe

Games to Play in the Tub with Soap Crayons

Tic-Tac Toe
Draw a tic-tac board on all the surfaces of the bath tub and play until all the boards are filled in. Whoever wins the most games is the winner and the loser washes off all the boards.

Shadow Capture

Here's an easy art experiment that helps kids build hand-eye coordination. Use a Soap Crayon to draw outlines of a showdow of an object, and then color in the outlines.
