Don't get caught with mud on your face! The laws for purchasing items for resale in the state of Washington have changed - please read below for details.
Effective January 1, 2010, the resale certificate will be replaced with a reseller permit issued by the Department of Revenue (Senate Bill 6173). Reseller permits are free and will be issued to businesses that make wholesale purchases. The permits allow businesses to purchase items or services for resale without paying retail sales tax.
What this may mean for you: If you make a purchase from Bramble Berry after January 1, and we do not have a copy of your reseller permit on file, you will be charged sales tax. Once we receive a copy of your reseller permit, your future orders will be tax exempt. Bramble Berry will not be able to refund the sales tax on previous purchases. You can, however, apply for a refund from Washington State (find the form here).
So be sure we have a copy of your Reseller Permit before you order! You should have received your Permit from the the Department of Revenue by now (apply for one here if you haven't). Fax a copy to us at 360.752.0992 or email it to us at [email protected]
