Solidifies too quickly

I've used melt and pour soaps before, mainly the ones you can purchase from craft stores, but have loved watching Soap Queen TV and decided to try a Bramble Berry product. It has to be higher quality, or so I thought. I'm deeply disappointed in how this soap behaves. I take it out of the microwave and by the time I'm done stirring it, the surface is already hardening and creates a "skin" that I need to stir back into the soap, which at this point is already thickening. I couldn't even pour a full bar of soap without the rest of it hardening as I poured. I got several chunks of soap in one bar as I poured. This soap also smells of lavender, which is strange. I will not be purchasing this again. I wanted to return the unused bases I purchased, but I see the return policy doesn't allow it. Lesson learned: buy one soap base at a time rather than get stuck with a terrible base.

Kelsey from Bramble Berry replies...
Hi Jennifer! I'm sorry you were disappointed in this base. We love the luxurious feel of our SFIC Shea Melt and Pour Base. Our SFIC bases are the most natural of our MP and they do have less chemicals in them to keep them smooth and melted. These bases requires less heat and more stirring, but at the end of the day feels so much better on your skin! It does sound like the soap may have gotten a little burnt in the end. Burnt melt and pour can form a skin and solidify quickly. To help prevent that, microwave the soap on short bursts (as short as 5 seconds) and stir frequently. It also helps to set your microwave to low. Find out more about that in our How to Avoid Burnt Melt & Pour blog post. good base

I am new to melt and pour, so this was one of the first bases I tried. It worked well and I had no problems with it, so I am happy.

Don't use for Celtic knot mold

This is a nice base but it solidifies before the temperature drops enough to use it with the Celtic knot mold and the evergreen mica. It seems to start hardening at 135 degrees.

This base melts easily but it's drying on my skin. I prefer the Goat Milk base.
