Project Description

This body butter is smooth, creamy, and inspired by the ocean.

The base of this recipe is avocado butter. After a few minutes with a hand mixer, the dense butter becomes extremely smooth and fluffy.

This recipe also contains seaweed extract. It’s dispersed in fractionated coconut oil, which has a light texture that glides onto skin. Finally, Super Pearly White Mica is added for a touch of shimmer.

Because this is an oil-based recipe that doesn’t contain water, a preservative isn’t necessary. Keep in mind that body butters have a heavier feeling on the skin than lotion. Arrowroot powder is added so the recipe doesn’t feel too oily.

You will need:

  • 3 Short 8 oz. Bail Jars
  • 14 oz. Avocado Butter
  • 1 oz. Seaweed Extract
  • 4 mL Island Coconut Fragrance Oil
  • 4 mL Ocean Shores Fragrance Oil
  • 1 tsp. Super Pearly White Mica
  • 0.2 oz. Arrowroot Powder
  • Dropper

Follow these steps:

1

Place 14 ounces of avocado butter into a large mixing bowl. Set a hand or stand mixer to low/medium and whip the butter for about 30-60 seconds to break up any large chunks and to create a smoother texture.

2

Add 1 ounce of seaweed extract, 4 mL of Ocean Shores Fragrance Oil, and 4 mL of Island Coconut Fragrance Oil. Turn the mixer on low to slowly incorporate the wet ingredients. Then, increase to medium/high and whip for about 30 seconds.

3

Add 1 teaspoon of Super Pearly White Mica. Turn the mixer on low to slowly incorporate it. Then, increase to medium/high and whip for about 30 seconds.

4

Add 0.2 ounces of arrowroot powder. Use a spatula or large spoon to fold the powder in. Once incorporated, scrape down the sides of the bowl and continue to whip the mixture for about 60 more seconds. The butter should be smooth and fluffy.

5

Spoon equally into three 8 oz. bail jars. Store the butter in a dry, cool place and enjoy!
