Espresso Martini Soap Project

Project Description
You will need:
- 10" Silicone Loaf Mold
- 15.3 oz Coconut Oil
- 14.85 Canola Oil
- 12.15 oz. Olive Oil
- 1.35 Coffee Butter
- 1.35 Castor Oil
- 6.3 oz. Sodium Hydroxide Lye
- 14.25 oz. Distilled Water
- 3.2 oz. Espresso Martini Fragrance Oil
- Titanium Dioxide
- Cappuccino Mica
COLOR PREP: Mix 1/2 tsp of Cappuccino Mica into 1 tbsp of lightweight oil, and 1 tsp of titanium dioxide into 1 tbsp of lightweight oil. Use a mini mixer to help get rid of any clumps.
Optional: To ensure the titanium dioxide blends smoothly into the soap, we recommend micronizing it before dispersing it in oil. Use a coffee grinder to break up any clumps of color
FRAGRANCE PREP: Measure 3.2 ounces of Espresso Martini Fragrance Oil into a glass container. Set aside.
SAFETY FIRST: Suit up for safe handling practices. That means goggles, gloves, and long sleeves. Make sure kids, pets, other distractions, and tripping hazards are out of the house or don’t have access to your space. Always make soap in a well-ventilated area.
Follow these steps:

Slowly and carefully add 6.3 ounces of lye to 14.25 ounces of water and gently stir until the lye has fully dissolved and the liquid is clear. Set aside to cool. Optional: Add 2 teaspoons of sodium lactate to help the bars harden more quickly.
Measure out your oils and combine them in a large mixing bowl, microwave until your oils are completely melted and you see no cloudiness. Once the lye water and the oils have cooled to 100-120° F or below (and are ideally within 10 degrees of each other), add the lye water to the oils and stick blend until thin trace.

Add the Espresso Martini fragrance oil and mix with a spatula until fully incorporated.
Split off 16 oz into a medium sized mixing bowl for the frosting, and set aside.

Split the remaining soap into three separate containers: two containers with 8 oz each and one container with 32 oz.
In the 32 oz container, mix in the dispersed Cappuccino Mica. In one of the 8 oz containers, add 1 tsp of the dispersed titanium dioxide. Leave the other 8 oz container as-is.

Pour all of the brown batter into the 10 inch Silicone Loaf Mold. Give the uncolored batter a quick stir, and then holding the bowl high above the mold, pour slowly moving back and forth In the 32 oz container, mix in the dispersed Cappuccino Mica. In one of the 8 oz containers, add 1 tsp of the dispersed titanium dioxide. Leave the other 8 oz container as-is.
vertically in the mold. Stop once you’ve poured half of the uncolored batter.
Switch to the white batter and pour using the same technique, using about half of the container. Repeat with the remaining uncolored and white soap.

Once the mold is full, tap on the counter to get rid of bubbles. Check the texture of the frosting soap. It needs to be a thick-medium trace - smooth enough to scoop with a spoon but thick enough to hold its shape. Pour the remaining titanium dioxide and oil mixture into the batter. Use a whisk to mix until smooth and color is consistent. Use a stick blender to thicken the trace if needed.
Load up your frosting bag and pipe the remaining white frosting on the top of the soap.

Spray the top of the soap with alcohol, sprinkle or use a small sifter to lightly dust the top of the frosting with Cappuccino Mica. You can optionally press coffee beans into your soap frosting.

Once the lightest layer of soap has been poured into the mold, use a spoon to create a textured top. Once you're happy with the top, add coffee beans on top. We recommend placing the beans where you'd like the middle of each bar to be. This will make cutting the bars easier. Allow the soap to harden for 3-4 days before unmolding. Unmold, cut into bars, and allow to cure for 4-6 weeks.Enjoy!
