Gardener Soap Project
- Skill Level: Beginner
- Time: 2 hours
- Yield: 8 bars of soap
Project Description
These bars are designed to wash away tough dirt and grime. Shredded loofah sponge and walnut shells exfoliate the skin, while Goat Milk Melt and Pour Soap keeps it feeling smooth.
The soap is scented with Green Fig Fragrance Oil, which is a fresh mix of grapefruit, jasmine, leafy greens, and cedarwood.
You will need:
- 21 oz. Goat Milk Melt and Pour Soap Base
- 10.5 oz. Clear Melt and Pour Soap Base
- 15 mL Sage and Lemongrass Fragrance Oil*
- 1 Tbsp. Walnut Shells
- 1 Tbsp. Loofah Sponge, shredded
- Hydrated Chrome Green Color Block
- Pure Soap Silicone Tray Mold
- Dropper
*Note:This project was originally made with Green Fig Fragrance Oil, which was discontinued. It has been substituted with Sage and Lemongrass Fragrance Oil.
ADDITIVE PREP: Using scissors, shred loofah sponge into small pieces, amounting to a total of one ounce.
Follow these steps:
1
Chop 10.5 ounces of Goat Milk Melt and Pour Soap Base into small uniform cubes. Place them in a medium heat-safe container and melt in the microwave using 30 second bursts, stirring between each one.
2
Add 1 tablespoon of walnut shells and use the dropper to add 5 mL of Green Fig Fragrance Oil to the melted soap. Stir to fully incorporate. Pour the soap into the mold and spritz with alcohol to get rid of bubbles. Allow to cool and harden for 5-10 minutes.
3
Chop 10.5 ounces of Goat Milk Melt and Pour Soap Base into small uniform cubes. Place the soap in the medium heat-safe container and melt in the microwave using 30 second bursts, stirring between each one.
4
Add shavings of the Hydrated Chome Green Color Block to the melted soap until you get a light green. Add 5 mL of Green Fig Fragrance Oil and stir well. Let the soap cool to 125-130° F.
5
Spritz the first layer with alcohol to help the layers adhere and pour the light green soap into the mold. Spritz with alcohol to get rid of bubbles and allow to cool and harden for 5-10 minutes.
6
Chop 10.5 ounces of Clear Melt and Pour Base into small uniform cubes. Place them in a medium heat-safe container and melt in the microwave using 30 second bursts, stirring between each one.
7
Add shavings of the Hydrated Chrome Green Color Block to the melted soap until you get a dark green. Add 1 tablespoon of shredded loofah and 5 mL of the fragrance oil. Stir everything together. Let the soap cool to between 125-130° F.
8
Spritz the second layer with alcohol and pour the dark green soap into the mold. Spritz with alcohol to get rid of bubbles.
9
Let the soap harden for 4-8 hours. Once it’s cool and hard, remove from the mold and use a sharp knife to cut along the score lines. Enjoy.
