Have you ever cut into a batch of soap and found streaks of color running through it? That can happen when powders aren't fully incorporated. We wanted an easy way to get clump-free shades in melt and pour soap, which is why we created our exclusive Color Blocks. They're made right here in Bellingham, WA.
They're super concentrated blocks of melt and pour soap. We make them in-house with micas, pigments, or a combination of the two. The recipe is blended for at least 5 minutes to ensure the colorants are dispersed evenly. We also have natural Color Blocks made with clays, activated charcoal, etc.
For powder colorants, we recommend mixing them with alcohol before adding them to soap. That way they incorporate more easily. You don't have to worry about that with Color Blocks! Just add shavings to melted soap and stir.
The smaller the shavings, the more quickly they melt. If the colors aren't fully melted after 1-2 minutes, just pop the soap back in the microwave on 5 second bursts and stir. You can also add pieces of the block before you melt it.
A little goes a long way with Color Blocks. Start off with just a few shavings, then add more from there. They don't morph or fade, so what you see is what you get. You'll know what to expect after working with them a few times.
