Project Description

This body butter is made by whipping mango butter, aloe butter, and squalane oil into a fluffy, spreadable texture.

This recipe is made with aloe butter, mango butter, and squalane oil. It's scented with Greenhouse Fragrance Oil, which is sophisticated and complex. A touch of mica gives the butter a light green color and subtle sparkle.

To whip the butters, we recommend a stand or hand mixer. The squalane oil helps soften the butters and creates a smoother product. Feel free to add more squalane oil to the recipe if you don't want it as thick. Other lightweight liquid oils like avocado oil or sweet almond oil work great as well.

Because this is a heavier moisturizer, it can feel greasy on the skin when it's first applied. To help, we added arrowroot powder. It helps absorb some of the greasy feeling, but is an optional ingredient.

Because this is a heavier moisturizer, it can feel greasy on the skin when it's first applied. To help, we added arrowroot powder. It helps absorb some of the greasy feeling, but is an optional ingredient.

You will need:

  • About Five 4 oz. Bail Jars
  • 12 oz. Aloe Butter
  • 3 oz. Mango Butter
  • 0.8 oz. Squalane Oil
  • 5 mL Greenhouse Fragrance Oil
  • 1 Tbsp. Arrowroot Powder
  • 1/2 tsp. Snowflake Sparkle Mica
  • 1/8th tsp. Shamrock Green Mica
  • Note: This project was originally made with Kelly Green Mica

Follow these steps:

1

Place 12 ounces of aloe butter and 3 ounces of mango butter into a large mixing bowl. Set a hand or stand mixer to low/medium and whip for about 30-60 seconds to break up any large chunks and to create a smoother texture.

2

Add 0.8 ounces of squalane oil and 5 mL of Greenhouse Fragrance Oil. Turn the mixer on low to slowly incorporate the wet ingredients. Then, increase to medium/high and whip for about 60 seconds.

3

Add 1/2 teaspoon of Snowflake Sparkle Mica and 1/8th teaspoon of Kelly Green Mica. Turn the mixer on low to slowly incorporate. Then, increase to medium/high and whip for about 30 seconds.

4

Add 1 tablespoon of arrowroot powder. Use a spatula or large spoon to fold the powder in. Scrape down the sides of the bowl and continue to whip the mixture for about 60 more seconds. The butter should be smooth and fluffy.

5

Spoon equally into bail jars. Store the butter in a dry, cool place and enjoy.
