Sprinkle Donut Bath Bomb Project

Project Description
There is something about pink donuts with sprinkles that make us happy - they're just so darn cute! The Donut Silicone Mold gives them a cute shape, Coconut Oil helps moisturize the skin, and Strawberry Fragrance Oil adds a sweet scent.
This project uses 2 different types of colorant. The donuts are colored with Rose Pearl Mica. Once the bath bombs are unmolded, the sprinkles are painted on using a mixture of micas and 99% Isopropyl Alcohol. To help the micas and coconut oil disperse better in the water, we added an emulsifier called Polysorbate 80.

You will need:
- Donut Silicone Mold
- 1 cup Baking Soda
- ½ cup Citric Acid
- 0.5 oz. Coconut Oil
- 6 mL Strawberry Fragrance Oil
- 2 mL Polysorbate 80
- About 1/4 tsp. Rose Pearl Mica
- 1/2 tsp. Fine Silver Rainbow EcoGlitter
- Witch Hazel in Spray Bottle
- Droppers
- Yellow Mica
- Magenta Mica
- Super Pearly White
- Shamrock Green Mica
- Copper Sparkle Mica
- 99% Isopropyl Alcohol
Follow these steps:

In a large bowl, mix together 1 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of citric acid. If there are any clumps, you can push the powder through a sifter or break up them up with your fingers. Citric acid has a tendency to take off nail polish, so wear gloves to protect your manicure.

Add 0.5 ounces of melted coconut oil, 6 mL of Strawberry Fragrance Oil, 2 mL of polysorbate 80, and about 1/4 teaspoon rose pearl mica. Mix all the ingredients together with your hands.

Add 1/2 teaspoon of Fine Silver Rainbow EcoGlitter and mix well.

Test the consistency of the bath bomb mixture. The perfect consistency for molding is similar to wet sand and holds its shape when squeezed. If it’s too dry, use one hand to spritz the mixture with witch hazel and one to mix. Continue spritzing until the mixture holds its shape.

Fill each cavity with the bath bomb mixture, packing it in tightly. Make sure to leave the middle of the mold clean.

Allow the bath bombs to harden and dry for several hours or up to overnight.

Remove the bath fizzies from the mold.

In separate containers, add about ⅛ teaspoon of the Super Pearly White Mica, Yellow Mica, Magenta Mica, Shamrock Mica, and Copper Sparkle Mica with about ¼ tsp. 99% isopropyl alcohol. Stir together to create a paint. It should be thin enough to spread but saturated enough to leave a strong color.

Using a fine-tipped paint brush, add sprinkles to the bath bomb. Clean your brush between each color. If you find the paint is bleeding on your bath bomb, add a bit more mica.

Allow the bath bombs to dry for several hours. To use, place in a hot bath and enjoy!
