Project Description

This face mask moisturizes the skin with rosehip seed oil, jojoba oil, and lavender essential water.

A touch of Rose Clay adds a soft color, and the Natural Lavender and Green Tea Fragrance Oil creates a calming scent. The small amount of clay only imparts color and very little oil absorption. If you're looking for a clay mask, check out the Lavender Face Mask Project.

You will need:

  • Ten 2 oz. Frosted Glass Jars
  • 3.2 oz. Rosehip and Jojoba Quick Lotion Mix
  • 12.8 oz. Lavender Essential Water
  • 3.2 oz. Distilled Water
  • 0.8 oz. Glycerin
  • 0.1 oz. Natural Lavender and Green Tea Fragrance Oil
  • 0.2 oz. Geogard 221
  • Rose Clay

*Note: This project was originally created with the now discontinued Purple Brazilian Clay. Rose clay will yield a similar shade as the photos with a slightly more pink tone.

EQUIPMENT PREP: Disinfect your utensils by dipping them in a 5% bleach water solution and allowing to dry. This includes mixing containers, your stick blender, and any spoons or spatulas that may come in contact with your mask. Your products must be as free of germs, bacteria, and microbes as possible.

Follow these steps:

1

In a large heat-safe container, add 12.8 ounces of lavender essential water, 3.2 ounces of distilled water, and 0.8 ounces of glycerin. Heat in a double boiler or in the microwave using 30-60 second bursts until the mixture is about 160-180° F.

2

In a separate heat-safe container, add 3.2 ounces of Rosehip and Jojoba Quick Lotion Mix. Heat in a double boiler or in the microwave using on 30-60 second bursts until the mixture is about 160-180° F.

3

Check the temperature of both containers. Each one should be about 160-180° F. When they’re ready, tap your stick blender on the bottom of the bowl to release bubbles. Pour the Quick Lotion Mix into the water mixture and begin pulsing the stick blender. Blend the mixture for 60-90 seconds, making sure the oil and water phases are fully emulsified. Scrape the Quick Mix bowl to make sure you got every bit into the water.

4

Add 1/2 teaspoon of rose clay. Continue stick blending until the temperature drops to about 130-140° F. Add 0.1 ounces of Natural Lavender and Green Tea Fragrance OIl and 0.2 ounces of Geogard 221. Stick blend for another 60-90 seconds to fully combine.

5

Pour the mask into the containers. If it's too thick to pour, place it in the microwave and gently reheat using 10 second bursts.

6

Allow the containers to sit with the cap off for several hours to prevent condensation. Screw on the tops and enjoy!

7

To use, apply a thick layer to clean skin. Allow to sit on the skin for 10-20 minutes. Gently wash off with warm water.
