What's Inside our Natural Soap Kit for Beginners?

If you’re thinking of making your very first batch of soap, our soap making kits are a great place to start. One of our most popular soap making kits is our Natural Soap Kit for Beginners in Relaxing Lavender, and it has what you need to get started right. It was one of our first kits, and one of the very first cold process soap making kits made with beginners in mind. Let’s see what’s inside!

DIY Kit Ingredients

The contents of our Natural Soap Kit for Beginners

So, what ingredients are in our Natural Soap Kit for Beginners in Relaxing Lavender?

This kit also comes in Energizing Orange, which is slightly different.

  • Orange 10X Essential Oil - this takes the place of the Lavender 40/42, and is one of our most popular scent products.
  • Orange Peel Powder - this natural colorant makes the soap a beautiful orange color, and replaces the pigment in the lavender kit.
  • Dried Calendula Petals - you still get a floral decoration for soap tops! This kit has dried calendula petals for a lovely orange.

Aside from the color and the scent, these two kits come with all the same great ingredients. You get to choose which one you want!

That’s all you need to make this soap, except some distilled water. Not only does the kit have all this, but it has the amounts that you need to make your first batch of soap.

DIY Kit Tools

But a craft project requires more than just ingredients. Part of what makes some crafts so expensive is the specialized tools that they require. Let’s see what tools are included in the kit.

  • Soap Making Goggles - safety goggles are essential when you’re handling lye, and we’ve put your first pair in the kit.
  • 10 inch Silicone Loaf Mold - you can use all kinds of things as soap molds, but this mold is perfect for this batch of soap. Just the right size, and easy to use and clean.
  • Nitrile Gloves - you also need to wear gloves when you’re handling caustic chemicals, so we’ve included a pair of nitrile gloves to keep your hands safe.
  • Bramble Berry's Perfect Scale - all your ingredients should be measured by weight to make sure your soap turns out. This stainless steel scale weighs up to 11 pounds, and as little as 0.05 ounce.

What else do you need? Well, you’ll need some containers for measuring and mixing, and you’ll want to have an immersion blender to emulsify your soap batter. You might also want something like newspaper or plastic sheeting to cover your work surface, and a microwave to melt the oils.

DIY Kit Instructions

What really makes our kits special, though, is the included instructions sheet. We tested our instructions to make sure that they’re easy to follow. We wanted to make sure that they had all the information that you needed, but were short enough to be easy to read. We also include photos in our instruction sheets so you can see what the next step is.

You don’t have to look up instructions on our website, though our Natural Soap Kit for Beginners does have a wonderful video showing you how to make the soap. The instructions sheet can stay right at your workspace with you for easy reference.

So, are you ready to get started on your first batch of soap? Check out our soap making kits and see what you can make!
