May 2008 Fragrance Oil and Essential Oil Web Specials |

Kumquat: We set out a loaf of Kumquat Soap at Otion and out of the 15 logs of soap set out, the Kumquat universally elicited "Wows!" and "I want this!". Kumquat is along the lines of pomegranate - bright, fresh, purple with notes of green. It performs admirably in cold process soap and is divine in lotions. Kumquat is considered one of the hot new trends for 2008 so you'll be seeing this fragrance (along with other purples like pomegranate, mangosteen and acai berry) showing up in bodycare and fine perfumes.

Chamomile, Cybilla: We feel this is the closest to the Essential oil as you can come with a Fragrance oil. Herbal powdery scent with a slight hint of apple in the dry down. Our Chamomile is perfect on it's own or blended. Behaves wonderful in cold process (CP) soaping. Starts out light and comes back strong as the soap cures. The scent just seems to get better and better. Flash point 162ºF.

Sea Shore, Cybilla: Clean fresh smell of water, sand and air. We love this scent in wax Candles. Does accelerate trace, be prepared to work fast. We do not recommend discounting water. Flashpoint: 200

Miscellaneous Soap Making Web Specials for May 2008 |
Ultramarine Pink: "Baby Doll Pink", this is a great shade of pastel pink, perfect for any sort of baby soap or Valentine's Day Soap.
To see ultramarine pink mixed with hydrated chrome green using an advanced swirl technique, click here.

Cellini Blue: This is a deep, vibrant teal blue color. It is also an edible mica so it can be used in body dust, body butters and lip butters. This mica does require a bit of TLC when stirring in. We recommend mixing it with your fragrance oil (that you're using for the batch) as it is not as easily dispersible as our other micas.
INCI: Mica, FD&C Blue #1, Aluminum Lake

Sweet Almond Oil - Excellent as a massage oil, this luxurious oil is also wonderful in soap. Use it in your cold process recipes at 5% and enjoy the moisturizing properties of this light oil. Sweet Almond Oil is renowned for its rich concentration of oleic and linoleic essential fatty acids which help to give it unequalled penetrating and restructuring properties. This oil also makes an unparalleled carrier for salt (for use in salt scrubs). On a side note, it's also a good oil for stir fry (as it has a very high flashpoint and is cholesterol free).

Cutter - This 5 inch soap cutter is perfect for cutting soap or scraping it off the table! You won't want to be without this in your soaping room or kitchen!
