Instructions
You will need:
Embeds:
- 12-Bar Silicone Rectangle Mold
- 4 oz. LCP Clear Melt and Pour Base
- Aqua Pearl Mica
- Lagoon Green UltraSparkle Mica
Base:
- 10" Silicone Loaf Mold
- 33 oz. Basic Quick Mix
- 4.7 oz. Sodium Hydroxide Lye
- 10.5 oz. Distilled Water (5% water discount)
- 2.5 oz. Aquamarine Dream Fragrance Oil
- Aqua Pearl Mica
- Stormy Blue Mica
Follow these steps:
MAKE THE EMBEDS
1
Chop 2 ounces of LCP Clear Melt and Pour Soap. Place the cubes in a heat safe container. Melt in the microwave using 30 second bursts. Add ¼ tsp of Aqua Pearl Mica and ¼ tsp of Lagoon Green UltraSparkle Mica and stir thoroughly. Fill one cavity to the top and let it cool completely before unmolding.
2
Unmold and cut the bar into quarters, then cut each quarter in half again. Using a paring knife, cut the edges of the cubes off at angles to create a gemstone look. The less perfect, the better!
MAKE THE BASE
COLOR PREP: Mix 1 tsp of Aqua Pearl Mica into 1 tbsp of lightweight oil, then mix 1 tsp of Stormy Blue Mica into 1 tbsp of oil. Use a mini mixer to help get rid of any clumps.
FRAGRANCE PREP: Measure 2.5 ounces of Aquamarine Dream Fragrance Oil into a glass container. Set aside.
SAFETY FIRST: Suit up for safe handling practices. That means goggles, gloves, and long sleeves. Make sure kids, pets, other distractions, and tripping hazards are out of the house or don’t have access to your space. Always make soap in a well-ventilated area.
3
Slowly and carefully add your lye to your water and gently stir until the lye has fully dissolved and the liquid is clear. Set aside to cool. Optional: Add 2 teaspoons of sodium lactate to help the bars harden more quickly.
4
Fully melt the entire bag of Basic Recipe Quick Mix until it's clear and there is no cloudiness. Shake the bag to mix up all the oils. Measure 33 ounces into a large heat-safe container. Once the lye water and the oils have cooled to 100-120° F or below (and are ideally within 10 degrees of each other), add the lye water to the oils and stick blend until you reach a thin trace.
5
Add the Aquamarine Dream Fragrance Oil and mix with a spatula until fully incorporated.
Separate the batter in half, about 3 cups of each. To the first portion, add the Aqua Pearl dispersion and stir well. Pour all of the first half of batter into the mold.
6
Use the back of a spoon to add texture to the top of the first layer to create a wave effect. Next use a small sifter to sprinkle a thin layer of the Lagoon UltraSparkle for a subtle mica line.
7
Mix the Stormy Blue dispersion into the second half of the batter. Pour the remaining soap into the mold, ensuring that the layer below is fully covered.
8
Texture the top of the soap with the back of a spoon, you may have to wait a few minutes for the soap to set up. Add another light dusting of Lagoon Green UltraSparkle Mica with the sifter to the top of the soap.
9
Add the premade gemstone embeds down the middle of the soap. Spray with 99% isopropyl alcohol to avoid soda ash. Allow the soap to harden for 3-4 days before unmolding. Unmold, cut into bars, and allow to cure for 4-6 weeks. Enjoy!
