This Autumn Fig Harvest Soap is the perfect project for fall!

Purple Rain Mica, Merlot Sparkle Mica and Hunter Green Mica give each layer a gorgeous earthy shade inspired by a perfectly ripe fig. Between each layer is a small line of Gold UltraSparkle Mica The mica is also sprinkled on top for a sophisticated finishing touch. The bars are scented with Autumn Fig Harvest Fragrance Oil, which is a fresh, fruity blend of apple, lemon, ginger, fig, caramel, cinnamon, coffee, twigs, and forest.

Instructions

You will need:

  • Distilled Water: 10.75 oz
  • Sodium Hydroxide Lye: 4.8 oz
  • Sodium Lactate: 3 tsp
  • Gentle Quick Mix: 33 oz
  • Autumn Fig Harvest Fragrance Oil: 2.25
  • Hunter Green Mica: 1 tsp
  • Merlot Sparkle Mica: ¾ tsp
  • Purple Rain Mica: ½ tsp
  • 10 inch Silicone Loaf Mold

COLORANT PREP: Disperse 1 tsp of Hunter Green mica into 2 tsp oil. Mix 1/2 tsp of Purple Rain mica and 1/2 tsp Merlot mica into 2 tsp oil. Set aside.

FRAGRANCE PREP: Measure out 2.25 oz of Autumn Fig Harvest Fragrance Oil and set aside.

SAFETY FIRST: Suit up for safe handling practices. That means goggles, gloves, and long sleeves. Make sure kids, pets, other distractions, and tripping hazards are out of the house or don’t have access to your space. Always make soap in a well-ventilated area.

Follow these steps:

1

Add 4.8 oz of lye to 10.75 oz of distilled water, mix and set aside to cool.

2

Fully melt the entire bag of Gentle Quick Mix until it’s completely clear. Shake the bag to mix up all the oils. Measure 33 ounces into a large heat-safe container. Once the lye water and the oils have cooled to 100-120° F (and are ideally within 10 degrees of each other), add the lye water to the oils and stick blend the mixture to a thin trace.

3

Add all of your premeasured fragrance oil and stir thoroughly to combine.

4

Separate the batter into 2 containers, about 24 oz each. In the first container, mix half of the Hunter Green mica and oil mixture until even, it should be a light green.

5

Pour 12 oz of the 24 oz into the mold, tapping down to release bubbles. Use a sifter to create an even layer of Gold Ultrasparkle mica on top.

6

Mix the remainder of the Hunter Green mica mixture into the remaining light green soap to create a darker green. Carefully pour the darker green layer over the light green layer, tap down to get rid of bubbles, and add another layer of Gold Ultrasparkle mica.

7

In the second container, add in half of the Merlot and Purple Rain mica mixture and stir until combined. Pour half of the lighter "fig colored" soap into the mold on top of the dark green layer. Even out and dust with Gold Ultrasparkle mica.

8

Add the remaining Merlot and Purple Rain mica mixture into the "fig" soap, stir until combined. Pour the rest of the darker fig soap into the mold, tapping to get rid of any remaining bubbles and dust the top of the soap with Gold Ultrasparkle mica. Spritz with 99% alcohol and place on a heating pad to force gel phase. Allow to cure for 4-6 weeks and enjoy.
