These bath bombs are made with lavender 40/42 essential oil, Epsom salt, and CBD oil for a relaxing bath experience.

These bath bombs are made with lavender 40/42 essential oil, Epsom salt, and CBD oil for a relaxing bath experience. The color is from CBD oil - it has a rich, dark green hue. For this project, we used ONDA Wellness CBD oil. It's a MCT oil tincture that mixes in well with the dry bath bomb ingredients. This recipe calls for 2 ounces of the oil, which contains 600 mg of CBD. Because the recipe makes 6-7 bath bombs in the Disk Mold and Package, each bath bomb contains 85-100 mg of CBD. You can adjust that amount based on personal preference.

To help the oil mix in with the tub, we added polysorbate 80. Polysorbate 80 is an emulsifer that helps oil mix into water rather than pooling on top.

This project includes labels that are made to fit on top of the Disk Mold and Package. We recommend printing on Waterproof Labels. The template includes labels for bath fizzes made with CBD and natural hemp seed oil

Recipe

INGREDIENTS:
  • Sodium Bicarbonate - 1 lb
  • Citric Acid - 1 lb
  • Lavender 40/42 Essential Oil - 1.75 oz
  • Polysorbate 80 - 1 oz
  • Witch Hazel - 1 lb
  • Epsom Salt - Fine - 2 lbs
EQUIPMENT:
  • Disk Mold and Package, Plastic - 10 molds
  • DISCONTINUED - Waterproof Labels - 1 label

Instructions

You will need:

  • About 8 Disk Bath Bomb Molds
  • 16 oz. Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate)
  • 8 oz. Citric Acid
  • 4 oz. Extra Fine Epsom Salt
  • 2 oz. CBD Oil (We used ONDA)
  • 0.6 oz. Polysorbate 80
  • 0.5 oz. Lavender 40/42 Essential Oil
  • Witch Hazel in a Spray Bottle

Follow these steps:

1

In a large bowl, mix together 16 ounces of baking soda and 8 ounces of citric acid. To get rid of clumps in the mixture, you can push the powders through a sifter or break them up with your fingers. Add 4 ounces of Epsom salt. Thoroughly stir the ingredients together.

2

In a small glass container, mix together 2 ounces of CBD oil, 0.6 ounces of polysorbate 80, and 0.5 ounces of lavender 40/42 essential oil. Use a spoon to mix all the liquids together.

3

Add the oil mixture to the baking soda and citric acid mixture. Use your hands to thoroughly mix.

4

Test the consistency of the bath bomb mixture. The perfect consistency is similar to wet sand and it holds its shape when squeezed. If it’s too dry, use one hand to spritz the mixture with witch hazel and one to mix. Continue spritzing until the mixture holds its shape.

5

Press the bath bomb mixture firmly into the molds. Only fill to the bottom lip or the lids won’t fit.

6

Allow the bath bombs to dry for several hours or up to overnight. Remove from the molds when you're ready to use. To use, place in a hot bath and enjoy.
