Instructions
You will need:
Embeds:
- Small 9 Ball Silicone Mold
- 2 oz. LCP Clear Melt and Pour Base
- Juice Bar Color Block Sampler
Base:
- 10" Silicone Loaf Mold
- 33 oz. Swirl Recipe Quick Mix
- 4.7 oz. Sodium Hydroxide Lye
- 10.5 oz. Distilled Water (5% water discount)
- 2.4 oz. Blackberry Sugar Fragrance Oil
- Purple Rain Mica
- Crimson Red Mica
- Lilac Mirage UltraSparkle Mica
Follow these steps:
MAKE THE EMBEDS
1
Chop 2 ounces of LCP Clear Melt and Pour Soap. Place the pieces in two separate heat-safe containers along with small shavings of Blackberry & Magenta Color Blocks. Melt in the microwave using 10 second bursts. Pour the soap into the cavities of the Small 9 Ball Silicone Mold. You should have 4 pink and 5 purple balls. Let the soap cool and harden for about 20-30 minutes.
2
Remove the embeds from the mold. Set aside until you’re ready to use.
MAKE THE BASE
COLOR PREP: Mix 1 tsp of Purple Rain Mica into 1 tbsp of lightweight oil. Do this twice so you have two containers of dispersed Purple Rain Mica. Then in a third container, disperse 1 tsp of Crimson Red Mica in 1 tbsp lightweight oil. Use a mini mixer to help get rid of any clumps.
FRAGRANCE PREP: Measure 2 ounces of Blackberry Sugar Fragrance Oil into a glass container. Set aside.
SAFETY FIRST: Suit up for safe handling practices. That means goggles, gloves, and long sleeves. Make sure kids, pets, other distractions, and tripping hazards are out of the house or don’t have access to your space. Always make soap in a well-ventilated area.
3
Slowly and carefully add your lye to your water and gently stir until the lye has fully dissolved and the liquid is clear. Set aside to cool. Optional: Add 2 teaspoons of sodium lactate to help the bars harden more quickly.
4
Fully melt the entire bag of Swirl Recipe Quick Mix until it's clear and there is no cloudiness. Shake the bag to mix up all the oils. Measure 33 ounces into a large heat-safe container. Once the lye water and the oils have cooled to 100-120° F or below (and are ideally within 10 degrees of each other), add the lye water to the oils and stick blend until thin trace.
5
Add the Blackberry Sugar Fragrance Oil and mix with a spatula until fully incorporated.
Split off approximately 1/3 of your batter into a smaller container and set aside.
6
To your larger container, mix in one of your dispersed containers of Purple Rain (yes, all of it). Then, add 1 tsp of dispersed Crimson Red Mica. Whisk until you've achieved your desired deep, rich blackberry shade. In the other smaller container, add 1 tsp of dispersed Purple Rain Mica for a light lavender shade.
7
Use an in-the-mold swirl technique to swirl the darker blackberry purple and pastel lavender together directly into the mold. Pour from different heights, alternating between both colors until the mold is full.
8
Once the mold is full, tap on the counter to get rid of bubbles. Add texture to your soap top, then dust with Lilac Mirage UltraSprarkle Mica for some extra shine.
9
Place your 9 ball embeds gently down the middle of the loaf. Spray with 99% isopropyl alcohol to avoid soda ash. Allow the soap to harden for 3-4 days before unmolding. Unmold, cut into bars, and allow to cure for 4-6 weeks. Enjoy!
