Floral Body Oil Project
For this recipe, we chose fractionated coconut oil. It’s extremely lightweight and thin so it works well in the Mini Spray Bottles. If you prefer a slightly heavier oil, use a roller bottle to prevent clogging.
Perfume and body oils are considered a leave-on product. When fragrance oils are applied directly to the skin, they can cause irritation. That’s why it’s important to use a safe amount. One way to find out how much fragrance to use is to select “lotion” on the Bramble Berry Fragrance Calculator.
You may notice that usage rate is extremely small. That’s because the fragrance calculator errs on the side of extreme caution. To find the maximum usage rate for a fragrance oil for leave-on products, consult the IFRA Certificate. That can be requested by emailing MSDS (at) brambleberry (dot) com.
The IFRA usage rates for the oils used in this project are listed below. This number refers to how much of the product can be made up of the fragrance oil. For example, Wild Rose Fragrance Oil can be used in your perfume up to 12%.
Max IFRA Usage Rates for Category 4
Wild Rose Fragrance Oil: 12%
Bewitched Orchid Fragrance Oil 100%
Baby's Breath Fragrance Oil: 20%
Wildflower Breeze Fragrance Oil: 12%
Note*: This project was originally made with Daisy Chain Fragrance Oil, which has since been discontinued. Wildflower Breeze replaces Daisy Chain as shown in the photos.
