Bewitched Orchid Candle Project
These candles are best paired with a cozy blanket and a good book. And maybe a nice glass of wine too.
The Bewitched Orchid Candle is colored purple and poured into candle tins. Bewitching Orchid Fragrance Oil fills the room with notes of ginger, jasmine, amber, and sandalwood. This project blends a dramatic, moody floral vibe with rich notes of ylang ylang, ginger, black pepper, gardenia, jasmine, orchid, and clove, finishing with the warm embrace of amber, patchouli, sandalwood, vanilla, and musk. Imagine a cozy evening with a crackling wick, the aroma swirling around you like a magical spell.
If you're new to this, check out the How to Make Soy Wax Candles article first. Since this project uses wooden wicks, we recommend a full 1 to 2 hours for the first burn to ensure an even, complete wax pool that reaches the edges of the container. This helps to prevent tunneling on subsequent burns.Â

What You Need:
Instructions
You will need:
- 6 Candle Tins
- 6 Narrow Wooden Wicks
- 21 oz. Golden Wax 464
- Violet Purple Candle Dye Flakes
- 1.7 oz. Bewitched Orchid Fragrance Oil
- Silver EcoGlitter
Follow these steps:
1
Place a half-filled pot of water on the stove, bring it to a low simmer, and nest a pouring pitcher or other heat-safe container inside. Add 21 ounces of Golden Wax 464 and a large pinch of the Violet Purple Candle Dye Flakes. Let everything melt. Tip: The wax lightens as it cools. To test the color, drip a small amount onto a white surface like parchment paper.
2
Weigh 1.7 ounces of Bewitched Orchid Fragrance Oil into a glass container. Once the wax reaches 185° F, remove it from the heat and slowly stir in the fragrance for 1-2 minutes to fully incorporate. Set aside to cool.
3
Place the wooden wick into its metal holder. Trim it to the correct size - make sure it's not in the way of the lids. Secure the wick to the bottom of each container using a wick sticker.
4
Once the wax is at 150° F, pour it slowly into the prepped jars. Once the candle is about 90% cooled and almost completely opaque, carefully sprinkle glitter on top of each one. Concentrate it around the outside of the candle and avoid the wick. Tip: Do not sprinkle the glitter when the wax is still melted, otherwise it clumps together. You can also add the glitter once the candle has cooled completely to be safe.
5
Let the candles cool for 12-24 hours. Allow them to cure for 3-5 days so the fragrance completely bonds with the wax. Burn your candle until it reaches a full melt pool for best results. Wooden wicks are especially prone to tunneling if you do not do a full melt pool on that first burn so plan to do a full 1 to 2 hours burn for the first lighting.
