Birchwood Oud Candle Project
It's made with paraffin-free Golden 464 Candle Wax. The wax blend is easy to work with - it has minimum frosting and great glass adhesion. We recommend pouring at 135° F.
Why You’ll Love Making (and Burning) This Candle:
-
Luxurious Scent Profile:Â Experience the deep, complex blend of wild birchwood, mysterious oud, and a touch of wild cypress, musk, and ocean breeze. This scent crafted for true candle connoisseurs and anyone that loves a sophisticated scent.
-
Effortless Process:Â Perfect for beginners and seasoned makers; enjoy a clear, step-by-step project and easy cleanup. The wax can be melted in the microwave (no need for a double boiler).
-
Elevate Any Space:Â Transform your home, office, or studio into a cozy retreat brimming with sophistication and warmth.
-
Gift-Worthy:Â Handmade candles radiate thoughtfulness; this candle is perfect for gifting to anyone who loves depth and luxury or keeping for yourself.
In our tests, we found this candle to have a light to medium hot throw. It's perfect if you don't like a strong scent, or if used in a small room. With wooden wicks, the first burn is very important; ensure that the first burn is 1 to 2 hours to make sure the wax pool is as big as it possibly can be so future burnings do not tunnel down the middle of the candle.

What You Need:
Instructions
You will need:
- 6 Candle Tins
- 6 Short Narrow Wooden Wick
- 21 oz. Golden Wax 464 Candle Wax
- 1.7 oz. Birchwood Oud Fragrance Oil
Follow these steps:
1
Place a half-filled pot of water on the stove, bring it to a low simmer, and nest a pouring pitcher or other heat-safe container inside. You can also use a microwave-safe container (like a Pyrex container) and heat on high in 1 minute bursts, stirring, and heating again until fully melted. Always monitor melting wax closely, never leave unattended, and use potholders to handle the hot container (no matter how you're melting the wax). Add 21 ounces of Golden Wax 464 Candle Wax. Allow the wax to melt.
2
Weigh 1.7 ounces of Birchwood Oud Fragrance Oil into a glass container. Once the wax reaches 185° F, remove it from the heat and slowly stir in the fragrance for 1-2 minutes to fully incorporate. Set aside to cool.
3
Place the wooden wick into its metal holder. Trim it to the correct size - make sure it's not in the way of the lids. Secure the wick to the bottom of each container using a wick sticker.
4
Once the wax is at 135° F, pour it slowly into the prepped tins.
5
Let the candles cool for 12-24 hours. Allow them to cure for 3-5 days so the fragrance completely bonds with the wax. Burn your candle until it reaches a full melt pool for best results (usually 1 to 2 hours). This is especially key for any candle projects using wooden wicks to ensure no tunneling on future burns.
