Create holiday magic with these festive Christmas Confetti soaps!

This project uses melt and pour techniques like embeds and layering. The striking red, green, and white color palette gives the soap a festive look, and the Tinsel and Pine Fragrance Oil adds a fresh, effervescent scent.

Instructions

You will need:

  • 4 in. Silicone Loaf Mold
  • 1 lb SFIC Clear Melt and Pour Base
  • 1 lb SFIC White Melt and Pour Base
  • Perfect Red Color Block
  • Green Chrome Oxide
  • Hydrated Green Chrome Pigment
  • Trial-Size Tinsel and Pine Fragrance Oil
  • Isopropyl Alcohol
  • Droppers

Follow these steps:

COLOR PREP: Disperse 1/2 teaspoon of Green Chrome Oxide and 1/2 teaspoon of Hydrated Green Chrome Pigment in 1 tbsp of isopropyl alcohol. Note: you can substitute this colorant mixture for a Green Chrome Color Block for a slightly different look (but more cost effective)

MAKE THE EMBEDS

1

Chop and melt 2 oz of clear melt and pour soap base in the microwave. This soap will be used as your green confetti embed pieces. Stir in half of your pre-dispersed green colorant mixture. Add 3 mL (one dropper) of fragrance and stir. Pour your 2 oz of scented soap into the silicone mold and let cool. Place the mold in the fridge to speed up unmolding time.

2

Once fully cooled, unmold the green soap and use that same mold for your red embeds (this is not necessary if you have more than one silicone mold on hand).

3

Repeat steps 1 & 2, adding small shavings of Perfect Red Color Block until you’ve reached your desired color. Pour your 2 oz of red soap into the mold and let cool fully on the counter or in the fridge to speed things up.

4

Unmold your red soap. Then, slice both of the red and green squares into thin rectangular strips (about ¼=½ inch). Set the embeds aside for later.

MAKE THE BASE

1

Chop and melt 4 oz of clear melt and pour soap base in the microwave. Add the rest of your dispersed green colorants and .2 oz of fragrance, stirring thoroughly to combine.

2

Elevate one side of your silicone mold with a book or towel to achieve the slanted layer look. Once the soap has cooled to around 130 degrees, pour your green soap and spritz with plenty of isopropyl alcohol to get rid of bubbles and help the layers stick together.

3

While your first green layer is cooling, chop and melt half of the block of white melt and pour soap base. Leave the white soap unscented.

4

Once your first slanted layer has cooled enough to support a layer on top, check your white soap to ensure it’s no hotter than 140 degrees, or you’ll risk melting the layer below.

5

Pour a thin layer of white soap, then begin randomly sprinkling in your red and green embed strips. Alternate between sprinkling in strips and pouring white soap to fill the gaps in between, being sure to leave enough space at the top for the final red slanted layer. Keep in mind you'll likely have some embed strips left over, you don't have to fit them all in the white soap.

6

Immediately begin chopping and melting 4 oz of clear soap base. Add shavings of Perfect Red Color Block and .2 oz of fragrance, stirring thoroughly to combine. Once the soap has cooled to 140 or below, lay your mold back flat on the counter and pour the final red layer.

7

Spritz the top to get rid of bubbles. Leave on the counter to cool fully for 4-6 hours.

8

Unmold, cut swiftly but carefully to avoid layers separating. These are ready to sell or gift as soon as they’ve cooled, enjoy!
