Get ready to make a splash with this fresh & fun project, perfect for beginners!

The key to layering melt and pour is temperature and patience. Before pouring the next layer, make sure the layer below has cooled and hardened enough to support the layer above. Spray alcohol between each layer to help avoid them from separating.

This batch is scented with Citrus Splash Fragrance Oil, a fresh & bright twist on a classic citrus fragrance. This scent is a must-have for summer soaping!

Recipe

INGREDIENTS:
  • SFIC Clear Melt And Pour Soap Base - 1 lb
  • SFIC White Melt And Pour Soap Base - 1 lb
  • Yellow Color Block - 1 Block
  • Citrus Splash Fragrance Oil - 1.75 oz
EQUIPMENT:
  • 4 inch Silicone Loaf Mold

Instructions

You will need:

  • 4" Silicone Loaf Mold
  • 12 oz. Clear Melt and Pour Soap Base
  • 10 oz. White Melt and Pour Soap Base
  • Yellow Color Block
  • 0.4 oz. Citrus Splash Fragrance Oil
  • 99% Isopropyl Alcohol

Follow these steps:

1

Chop 12 ounces of Clear Melt and Pour Soap Base into small uniform cubes. Place the clear soap cubes into a heat-safe container. Chop 10 ounces of White Melt and Pour Soap Base into small unfirom cubes and place into a small heat-safe container.

2

Add a chunk of the Yellow Color Block to the container of clear soap and place the container in the microwave. Gently heat using 20-30 second bursts until the soap is fully melted. Stir to incorporate the Color Block. Add 0.2 ounces of Citrus Splash Fragrance Oil, stirring to fully mix in. Pour your first layer into the 4" Silicone Loaf Mold. Spray with 99% isopropyl alcohol to get rid of bubbles and allow to cool and harden.

3

Place the container of white soap in the microwave and melt using 15-20 second bursts. Add your remaining .2 ounces of fragrance, stir thoroughly to combine. Make sure the yellow layer of soap has hardened enough to support the layer on top. Spray with 99% isopropyl alcohol to help the layers stick, and pour half of the white soap into the mold. Spray with alcohol to get rid of bubbles and allow to cool.

4

Reheat your yellow soap if necessary. Once your white layer can support another layer on top, pour a second yellow layer. At this point you should have three layers poured and two more remaining.

5

Repeat the steps above until you have a total of five layers (3 yellow, 2 white). Remember to let each layer harden enough to support the next layer, and spray liberally with alcohol in between to help with adhesion.

6

Allow the soap to fully cool and harden for at least 4 hours, up to overnight. Release the soap from the mold and cut into four bars. Wrap the bars in plastic wrap to help prevent glycerin dew.
