Reishi extract is a superstar ingredient in haircare, promoting overall hair health. This formula is perfect for dry, thick, or curly hair needing extra love!

Recipe

INGREDIENTS:
  • BTMS - 50 Conditioning Emulsifier - 2 oz
  • Honeyquat - 4 oz
  • Water Soluble Reishi Mushroom Extract - 1 oz
  • Argan Oil - 1 oz
  • Optiphen - 1 oz
  • DL-Panthenol - 1 oz
EQUIPMENT:
  • 2 oz Frosted Glass Jar with White Cap - 4

Instructions

You will need:

Four 2 oz. Frosted Glass Jars

Water Phase:

  • 9.5 oz Distilled Water

Oil Phase:

  • 2 oz BTMS-50
  • .25 oz Argan Oil

Cool-Down Phase:

  • .25 oz Honeyquat
  • .80 oz Reishi Extract
  • .10 oz DL-Panthenol (Vitamin B5)
  • .12 oz Optiphen (preservative)
  • .15 Sparkling Apple Blossom Fragrance Oil

Other Tools You WIll Need:

  • Two heat-safe containers
  • Digital scale
  • Whisk or stick blender
  • Thermometer

Follow these steps:

1

Prepare the water phase. Measure 9.5 oz distilled water by weight into a heat-safe container.

2

Prepare the oil phase - Combine 2 oz BTMS-50 and 0.25 oz argan oil in a separate heat-safe container.

3

Warm the water and oil phases in a double boiler (or microwave in short bursts) until they reach about 160–170°F (71–77°C) and the BTMS-50 fully melts. We recommend a double boiler because glass is prone to shattering in the microwave at those temperatures.

4

Slowly pour the oil into the water, whisking continuously or using a stick blender. Mix until the texture is smooth and uniform.

5

Cool to ~120°F (49°C). Let the mixture cool to around 120°F before adding delicate ingredients. Stir in your cool-down phase ingredients. Blend well until everything is fully incorporated.

6

Package your mask. Pour the finished mask into jars or bottles. Allow to cool completely before capping.

How to use: Apply generously to clean, damp hair, focusing on mid-lengths and ends. Leave on for 5–10 minutes as a mask, then rinse thoroughly. Use once or twice a week for silky, nourished hair. It can be used as a daily nourishing conditioner as well.
