Winter & Christmas Holiday Crafts

This collection brings together everything for winter and Christmas crafting. Fragrance oils smell like spiced cider and fresh snow. Molds are shaped like snowflakes and gingerbread men. Colors can turn any batch into a holiday gift.

Fragrance Oils for Cozy Winter Batches

Spiced scents like gingerbread cookie and cinnamon sugar carry a higher vanillin content. Vanillin naturally turns soap and lotion a warm tan or brown as it cures. This is not a flaw. White and pastel batches will shift color over time.

Cinnamon and clove can speed up trace in cold process soap. Work quickly once you add them. Have your mold ready before you pour. Browse winter fragrance oils for this season's full lineup, or check winter essential oils if you prefer a naturally derived scent.

Snowflake, Gingerbread Men, and Holiday Molds

A few well-chosen molds carry an entire holiday collection.

  • Snowflake silicone mold: four cavities turn out matching snowflake bars in one pour, ideal for gift sets.
  • Gingerbread Man mold: four cavities shape gingerbread bars with plenty of cure time before Christmas.
  • Evergreen and cranberry color blocks: pre-measured chunks blend into melt-and-pour bases for fast, mess-free batches.

Colorants Built for Winter Soap and Candles

It's always good to start small when adding colorants; you can always add more as needed. Start with 1/4 tsp of dispersed mica per pound of soap and add more if you want a darker shade. Some colors can morph in cold process soap, especially during gel phase. Make sure to check the performance notes on each colorant's page before starting your batches.

Why does my holiday soap turn brown even though I used a light colored fragrance oil?

Many holiday fragrance oils like gingerbread and cinnamon contain vanillin, which oxidizes and darkens soap over days or weeks. Titanium dioxide can lighten mild cases, but high vanillin scents are best embraced as part of the design.

Why did my gingerbread fragrance oil make my batter seize up so fast?
Spice-heavy fragrance oils like cinnamon and clove are known to speed up trace in cold process soap. Lowering your usage rate slightly or working in smaller batches gives you more time before the pour thickens. Always check the fragrance oils' performance notes before starting your batch, so you can be prepared and have a design plan in mind that works well with the fragrance's behavior.

How early do I need to make soap to have it cured by Christmas?
Most cold process soap needs four to six weeks of cure time before it is ready to gift or sell. Starting your holiday batches by late October gives your bars plenty of time to harden and mellow.

Why does my soy candle get a white frosty layer on top in winter?
Soy wax can frost when a poured candle cools too quickly in a cold room. Covering the candle loosely for the first 24 hours as it sets helps it cool evenly and keeps the surface smooth.
