It's Tarnishes

It tarnished with the first use. Still functional.

Love it!

The only thing I don't like is the discoloration and oxidation otherwise it works well for me.

Serves its purpose byt quality of the double boiler maker could be better.

On the first night that I used this double boiler maker, I place a 1000 ml beaker on it in a 4 quart saucepan to heat up my oils. To my misfortune, the double boiler maker was too tall that more the half the beaker height was above my sauce pan rim. The other issue that I notice with this double boiler maker was that the material tarnished int he boiling water. It was no longer the shiny silver that you see in the picture. So the quality could be better and I think the height shulld be lower. I also think that a grid like plate on stilts would be a better design to hold up multiple cups or even smaller diameter containers. Other than that, nothing really exciting or displeasing about the double boiler maker

Great gadget!

It sits a little higher than I'd like, but overall great little gadget.

Surprising use for this tool

This tool works perfectly for holding BB's boil-able bags off the bottom of my stock pot for melting 7 pound s bags of oils for storing in smaller containers. But I found an excellent alternative use for it. I place it in the sink and set my lye pitcher ( 2qt heavy plastic) on it and fill the sink with water to the level of the lye mixture in the container. It cools the water down very quickly without adding ice. This a modification of a tip given by Anne Watson in her book on milk soap making. It is very stable and works better than putting a cooling rack in the sink for the same job. I was very impressed with how much more quickly the solution cools with water underneath the container. All my oils are in the high 80's and the lye water in the low 90's without any effort. Setting up slow trace recipes just got a lot more efficient at my house!
