Celebrate Latinx Heritage Month
September is Latinx Heritage Month! This is a time when we celebrate the contributions that our Latinx neighbors make to our communities. What better way to celebrate it than to highlight some of the Latinx makers from our own community? We reached out to some of the Latinx members of our community to see what they had to say about Latinx History Month.
Belinda, from XO Illuminated:
“Embracing my Latinx identity inspires me to express my authentic self through the artistry of creating one-of-a-kind soaps and candles. I construct each creation with vibrant colors and designs that speak to the world around me. During the holiday season, I utilize Spanish phrases like “Dia de Los Muertos” or “Feliz Navidad” to infuse my rich cultural heritage into my creations. I also use special wording like “abuelita’s hot chocolate” to provide a rich cultural description of scent profiles. Through the warm glow of my candles, our XO Illuminated community experiences a creative fusion of artistry and culture.”

Erika from Erival Soap LLC:
“Being Latin American and being recognized as such anywhere in the world is worthy of pride, respect, admiration and celebration.
As a Latina entrepreneur in the United States, I am extremely satisfied to be part of this community that has made an effort to prove its worth through its faith, work, heart, warmth, and humanity.
Our company participates in different events where we share and represent our country with great pride.
What is special about our Latino culture?
We are known for having close family ties, as
well as for our rich traditions, reflected at a culinary, musical, religious and
festive level, which are transmitted from generation to generation. No matter where
in the world we are, what is carried in the blood is not forgotten, it is
encouraged, cultivated, taught, and my contribution to our community is made by
feeling proud of where I come from, who I am, and where I want to go. And that is
what I teach my daughters every day.
That they recognize the
"super power" they have to speak, live, and enjoy both
cultures.
We celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in recognition of the achievements and contributions of Hispanic American leaders who have inspired other people to achieve success and this means a lot to me, to our community.
Our goal as a company is to provide you with a unique, rewarding and safe sensory experience for the care and cleansing of your skin. We carefully choose the best ingredients from the most reliable suppliers in this sector, and that they enjoy, just like me. Each detail and love are ingrained in our products.
That they can enjoy the love, dedication, and meticulous care with which we make each of our handmade soaps; designed for everyone, especially those who appreciate and support the exciting world of crafts.
I thank God because he has allowed me to honor him with my work and be an example for my daughters, and to each of the people who, with their support, have made the achievement of a great dream possible. Thank you very much, Bramble Berry, for the support and this opportunity to share a bit of my story as a Latina in the United States. I am proud to be an active part in the development of our community.
Our heritage, Our Hispanicity!”

Jeanette from Wicked Little Soapery:
“I love being a Latina and all that comes with it. The culture, food, music, language and stories passed down from my great grandmother, to my grandmother, to my mother, to me and my children. When we gather for events, it’s always loud and full of life. We dance and sing and it’s so beautiful. These things inspire my soap making in various ways. Colors and different fragrances remind me of times passed, images flood my mind, sometimes it’s cute and sometimes it’s creepy. Soap lets me express who I am and how I feel at that moment. I am proud of my Peruvian/Nicaraguan heritage; it's a part of what makes me, me.”

Now that you’ve met some of our community members, why not check out their beautiful creations? It’s a great time to start shopping from Latinx owned businesses.
