How Long Does It Take for Candle Wax to Dry?

There's an important distinction most beginners miss: hardening and curing are not the same thing. Wax hardens enough to handle in roughly 1 to 5 hours depending on type (paraffin sets fastest, soy and coconut blends take longer), but a hard candle is not a ready candle. Curing is when the fragrance oil fully binds and distributes throughout the wax, which continues for several days after the candle is poured. We recommend waiting 3-4 days before use for all wax types. While a longer cure time is perfectly fine, only a few days are needed to achieve consistent testing results and a reliable end-user experience.

Skipping the cure doesn't just weaken scent throw. It also skews your wick test results. A fresh soy candle is much softer than a fully cured one, so a wick that looks right at 24 hours may actually be undersized once the wax reaches its final density. Wait out the full cure window for your wax type before drawing any conclusions.
