Natural Fragrance Oils For Your DIY Candles and Skincare Projects
One of the big benefits of making your own candles and bath and beauty products is that you get to know and control what goes into them. We want makers to have the information and the options they need to make the right choices for them.
People often draw a hard line between fragrance oils and essential oils, labeling one as synthetic and the other as natural, but it might surprise you to know that fragrance oils can be natural too.
Natural substances that have smells contain fragrance compounds. These compounds can be extracted and isolated, producing fragrance chemicals that can be blended with other fragrance chemicals to produce fragrance oil blends that are naturally derived.
The difference between these natural fragrance oils and essential oils is that there are some plants that you can’t extract useful essential oils from. For example: jasmine flowers are beautifully scented, but don’t withstand the distillation process, so no essential oil can be extracted from them. The same is true for most fruits (with the notable exception of citrus fruits).
To make these wonderful scents available for your DIY candles and bath products, they’re blended from fragrance chemicals into a fragrance oil. For our natural fragrance oils, those chemicals are extracted from plants!
Natural fragrance oils for candles and bath products tend to be more consistent than essential oils, they can create scents that essential oils can’t, and since they’re blended, they can also be more complex and layered than pure essential oils. Like all of our fragrance oils, our all natural fragrance oils are phthalate free.
While we don’t recommend our natural fragrance oils for hot or cold process soaps, they’re great for candles, masks, scrubs, lotions, and more. If you’re interested in a more natural way to scent your DIY candles and bath products, these natural fragrance oils might be just the thing you’re looking for.
