All About Extracts
Sometimes your projects just need a little something special. That's where extracts come in! They have numerous skin benefits and they're super easy to use. Learn how below.

Extracts come from organic materials like fruits, vegetables, flowers, and even coffee beans. They're infused into fractionated coconut oil and then filtered.
Our extracts are lightweight, so they mix easily into oil-based products. On the skin, they feel moisturizing and absorb quickly without any greasy residue. They don't have any color or scent.
We now have water soluble extracts as well! They have all the same skin-loving properties, they're just infused into water and glycerin instead of oil. Try them in water-based recipes like toners and lotions.
Each extract has slightly different properties. For example, aloe extract is soothing while pineapple extract leaves the skin feeling clean and smooth. We recommend trying a few to find your favorite.
They couldn't be easier to use - just mix into lotion, scrubs, etc. You can find the usage rate on the product page. Make sure to check there first, as some are lip safe and some aren't. A good starting point is about 1 teaspoon of extract per pound.

Extracts in skincare
They're perfect for facial skincare products! Try them in masks, moisturizers, serums, and lip balm. Here are a few recipes to get you started.
Oatmeal and Honey Face
Mask
We made this one specifically for people with
dry and combination skin. It has moisturizing ingredients like oat oil and jojoba
extract, and just a touch of kaolin and yellow Brazilian
clay.
Squalane and Agave Face
Oil
This one is great for your nighttime skincare
routine. First, mix together agave extract, grapeseed oil, squalane oil, and vitamin
E oil. You can also add a touch of Lush Succulent Fragrance Oil if you like. Then,
add a few drops to clean skin.
Green Tea
Face Scrub
Green tea extract is ideal for sensitive
skin - it hydrates without feeling too heavy. In this recipe, it's paired with sea
clay, spinach powder, Facial Lotion Base, and jojoba beads. It exfoliates gently and
leaves the skin feeling refreshed.

Extracts in body care
You can use them in everything from soap to bath bombs.
Marbled Lemon
Soap
If you love all-natural recipes, give this one a
try. It starts with White and Honey Melt and Pour Base. Then, you add clay,
charcoal, and lemon essential oil. A little bit of chamomile extract adds soothing
properties to each bar.
French Salt Bath
Bombs
Extracts are especially lovely in bath bombs.
As it fizzes, it releases the oil into the warm water, which leaves your skin
feeling soft. This recipe is made with seaweed extract, as well as goodies like
French sea salt and dried lavender.
Dewy
Rose Lotion Bars
These work especially well for dry
patches like elbows and hands. They're solid at room temperature, then melt on
contact with the skin. The mix of rose extract, cocoa butter, and jojoba oil keep
your skin hydrated all day long.
