More time = more green

I want to encourage others who might have Sweetgrass on hand but haven't given it a try. I ordered this on sale and let it languish in the cupboard for months. Out of the bottle, I thought it was a bit perfumey and left a sharp scent in my nose. However, I soaped it about 5 weeks ago. After this much time, the scent has become much softer and much more grass-like. Now I want to try it instead of Grass Stain in a few blends. I am not a fan of this in lotion, 'though I realize that my experience is subjective. I want to experiment with lower concentrations.

warm grass

This smells just like warm dried grass, I absolutely love it...brings me back to summer evenings as a child. I use it in many of my blends to bring a sense of place to it.

mislabeled product

This oil smells NOTHING like sweetgrass. Brambleberry needs to change the name of this product

I'm new to CP soapmaking and chose this for my very first attempt. It is WONDERFUL! Very subtle, clean, and light. Reminds me of a farm meadow. I'll use more next time as it does smell great in my cured bars but didn't last on my skin; however, EVERYONE I gave a bar to just loves it! I'll definitely be ordering more. This will be a staple fragrance for me. Great unisex scent.

Terah from Bramble Berry replies...
Hi Sheila! I'm so glad you love the smell of our Sweetgrass Fragrance Oil. We love the fragrance too! It's been a customer favorite for years so as we reformulate it to take out the phthalates, it's taking a little longer to ensure that we are getting it just right. Very few of our fragrance oils contain phthalates and we're working to ensure all of them are phthalate free in the next twelve months. Though there are two types of phthalates! The Diethyl Phthalate, the kind used in fragrances, is also known as the "good phthalate." It has been tested extensively and found to be "not harmful," "not a CMR," "not a skin sensitizer," "not a skin irritant" and "not harmful to the environment."
