Large Bags (5” x 6”): These cute little bags are made from a natural jute fiber and come with an even cuter draw string. They have an earthy look and smell- perfect for packaging your Eco Chic Soaps.
I am a newbie to the "soap making/fizzy world" but before I gave them as gifts (and sell), I did my research on packaging and wasn't thrilled on what I saw simply because it wasn't "me". So when I came across these burlap bags, this was it - they spoke to me. Earthy is the word I proudly use to describe myself and earthy are these bags. They aren't flashy but they are unique. If folks can't remember my name, they'll look for the girl that uses the cool burlap bags! They of course have that burlap scent BUT once I inserted my 8oz. Grease Monkey Soap bar scented w/Shave and a Haircut, that's all you smelled. The burlap allows the soap to breathe therefore the soap doesn't sweat.
With my fizzies, I used a sheet of tissue paper to wrap them with & carefully inserted them into the bags and they fit! The bags closed beautifully! I want to experiment with the smaller bags too. Thanks Bramble Berry!!!
Personally, I don't like these bags for a couple of reasons: First and foremost, they STINK like a petroleum based chemical, not a natural fiber at all. I washed them to try to get the smell out, and it helped a little, but not enough. Then of course I had to iron them (but that's not BB's fault). Secondly, in the picture, they look "loose" and rather thinly woven - just right for some sachets or potpourri, but they're thick, heavy and more tightly woven than the photo implies; not at all good for a potpourri in my opinion. Sorry, Brambleberry. I normally love everything I receive from you, but not this time.
Reply from Bramble Berry Hi Leigh! I'm sorry this product wasn't your favorite. Our jute bags are made with burlap, which does have a distinct smell that can be surprising if you've never smelled it before. To get rid of this smell, you can leave your bags outside in the sun or sprinkle some baking soda inside. Let that sit for several days, then shake it out. We've found these bags work great for holding soap, as seen in this Orange Slice Soaps tutorial. You may also like our organza bags. Organza bags were used in this Spicy Holiday Potpourri tutorial. I'll be emailing you personally to discuss this!
