Our Charitable Giving in 2023

Giving back is a part of who we are as a company, whether that means giving to the community where we do business, the environment that supports us, or the whole world! We give to several worthy causes each year. Check out what you helped us accomplish so far in 2023.

Girls Who Code

For Women’s History Month, we gave $1 from each order in March to an organization called Girls Who Code. This non-profit organization works to narrow the gender gap in the computer sciences, starting with girls as young as 3 years old. They offer free after-school clubs and summer programs for elementary, middle, and high school students. They also offer college and career programs for young women. They’ve taught more than 500,000 women and girls so far.

Since part of our mission is to support women in business, this partnership was a no-brainer for us.

You helped us give at least $2,500 to Girls Who Code.

Charity: Water

We’ve supported this organization before because we believe that the work they do is so important. We provide the supplies to create soap and other bath and beauty products, so our work is also connected to water.

Good hygiene is necessary for limiting the spread of disease and improving health outcomes for everyone. Soap is only part of that; people need clean, safe water too.

More than 700 million people around the world lack access to clean drinking water, and this organization is on a mission to change that. They work with local communities and partners to establish clean water systems and hygiene programs around the world. Local partnerships mean that Charity: Water can tailor solutions to the local environment and socioeconomic landscape and make sure they’re as effective as possible.

Charity: Water has helped provide more than 16 million people in 29 countries with clean water and sanitation. You helped us donate $1 from each sale of our Desert Romance collection, which helps them continue their lifesaving work.

The Center for Natural Lands Management

We couldn’t release a collection inspired by the desert without giving to an organization that helps protect it.

The Center for Natural Lands Management preserves native species and their habitats in the western US. They manage lands in ecosystems from the sand dune deserts to freshwater wetlands.

The desert is one of our most unforgiving and fragile ecosystems, and sand dune habitats even more so. The dunes on the Coachella Valley floor are home to species of plants and animals found nowhere else on Earth. You might not think of water as being vital to this ecosystem, but it is. As the water table falls and the rains become less dependable, native species are suffering.

This organization owns and manages nature preserves in delicate ecosystems to protect species from encroaching development. Many of these preserves are too sensitive to allow access to the public, but several have public trails that allow people to experience nature and understand the value of preserving it. They also support ecological research, wildfire prevention, and salmon habitat restoration.

We gave $1 from each purchase of our Desert Romance Collection to the Center for Natural Lands Management. Together, we helped to protect delicate species and their habitats.

The Trevor Project

LGBTQIA youth are more than 4 times as likely to attempt suicide than their peers. The Trevor Project wants to end that disparity. Statistics show that one accepting adult in their life can reduce the risk of suicide in young LGBTQIA people by as much as 40%.

The Trevor Project works to provide the kind of support these young people need. They provide support by phone, web, or text, and also provide an online space where LGBTQIA youth can connect with others in the community. The Trevor Project also supports education and advocacy for LGBTQIA rights, and research ways to serve this population better.

Throughout Pride Month, we donated $1 from the purchase of any colorant to the Trevor Project. You helped us give at least $2,500 so far to this fantastic organization.

The CROWN Act

The Legal Defense Fund Logo

With the launch of our new Hair Care Collection, we lent our support to The Legal Defense Fund and The CROWN Act.

The Crown Act is a piece of legislation that makes hair discrimination in employment and educational environments. The CROWN Act is law in only 13 states, and the Legal Defense Fund is working to change that.

Studies show that Black women with natural hairstyles were less likely to be hired. In some schools, dress code policies ban natural hairstyles for Black children.

All hair is beautiful, and we believe that people should be able to wear their hair how they want without fear of discrimination.

We gave $1 of every purchase from our Hair Care Collection to the Legal Defense Fund in support of the CROWN Act. You helped us give at least $2,500 to end hair discrimination.

Other donations

We've also given to other organizations locally and globally as a part of our mission. Check out these great groups doing good at home and around the world.

It’s amazing what we can do together. We want to thank you for helping us make a difference in 2023. We look forward to another year of giving back in 2024.
